Critical thought for the week:

dna and a digital matrix overlapping

35 Billion information requests cross the internet daily. Based on stats from 2020, that means a little over 1 Trillion requests per year are created. There are just a few people, relatively speaking, who have access to all of your personal information that, in many cases, you willingly provide…not to be confused with shadow brokers or APT31-like organizations that can access your content without your knowledge.

The point for critical thought is in reference to the King and Queen of digital data and genetic data: In 2007, Sergey Brin and Anne Wojcicki were married. Brin is a co-founder of Google, the company that has saved every search since its inception–officially in 1998. Wojcicki is a co-founder at 23andMe; a biotech analysis company that has received the DNA of over 10 million people. Of course, like 51% of marriages in the United States, their forever was cut short within five years. Nevertheless, their corporate castles still stand, and they are not alone.

What will future societies and social-anthropologists say about the Kings and Queens of Present? Who were they? How did they rule so many subjects? How did they become so wealthy so fast? Why is it that many of the wealthy people were not Americans–the designers of Western Capitalism? Why did the people willingly obey and provide their Kings and Queens with direct-pay financial offerings each month? Why were those who provided more offerings ranked higher within the social and economic caste system? Ironically, Google’s own DeepMind may be the future historian and sole anthropologist who will answer them.

However, will there be answers to the questions of humanity: How did collective governments take funds from their proletarians and divert the funds to private sector businesses for research and development, while there were homeless individuals, stray animals, immigrant holding-pins, and hungry children throughout the world, while the assessed value of the Kings and Queens surpassed the $13 Trillion mark? How did we sit by a watch exchange of wealth and silent loyalty occur? Or maybe, who knows? With the prospects of living on the Moon and Mars so near, future generations may not even care to ask, but be sure, Google will know the answer with genetic data to boot.
