As iBronze follows local Virginia politicians, we get to learn a lot about the landscape of policymaking.

Politics and chicanery are often considered one and the same. However, these women all have specific contributions to the world of policymaking and still much more yet to achieve. They operate with such determination and dedication that one might think of their journey as preparing for battle and going into war. The landscape of American politics these days is no less than treacherous as the author, Amy Chua, examines in her 2018 book entitled, Political Tribes: Group Instinct and the Fate of Nations. It’s worth a read. Likewise, with their laser focus to hold off the winds of reversion, these women are worth following.

iBronze recently caught up with Candi King again as she spins her magic. In doing so, we were able to meet state Senator Jennifer McClellan. McClellan was the senior and most seasoned politician of our lunch group (in addition to Prince William County Board Chair-at-large, Ann B. Wheeler). She has had a hand in changing policies for some time and is no stranger to the winds of change. The newest candidate, Michelle Maldondo (center), in her own right has achieved amazing things outside of running for a political position. Whether she wins a seat in office or not, her record of community contribution speaks for itself.

And finally, we also had the opportunity to hear the accomplishments in education that PWCS School Board Member, Lillie G. Jessie, developed while she was a sitting principal. Rest assured, as a board member, she has continued sharpening her blades to accelerate education for today’s learners.

These women warriors are worth keeping an eye on as our nation goes through its growing pains and attempts to revive its past.
